So today was a very eventful day. I had been waiting for this day for a long, long time and it finally came; the Penn interview. Notice the lack of "U" before Penn. I've come to realize that as you stop looking at it from the outside and start looking at it as a potential student, you drop that U and it just becomes Penn. Anyways before I get to talking about my interview, I would just like to bring up a short little incident that I came across prior to my interview. I was on the bus on my way to the ferry reading "Tuesdays with Morrie." Unfortunately, my reading was interrupted by two noisy men in their late twenties or early thirties talking very loudly. They were talking about random stuff and not necessarily using the cleanest language. This obviously isn't my first time hearing these four letter words but the thing that hit me was the sight of a mother of two sitting in front of me with her two children, one no older than six and the other even younger. Not only did she not bring up the fact that her children were hearing these words to these men but she herself didn't seem to mind it. It never seemed to hit her that these two impressionable kids are hearing this filth! By this point, I'm ready to scream at these men for their lack of propriety but I didn't think going into an interview with a bloodied face and no teeth was the best option. So I just sat there wondering if this is the state of society today, where kids get introduced to obscenities before the age of three. Is America this desensitized? And who really is to blame here? The men, spewing profanities without any restraint, or the mother, casually letting this happen.
Anyways now on to some good news. I MADE IT INTO PENN FULL SCHOLARSHIP. Okay that didn't happen but the interview went fairly well. Most people go into these interviews all nervous but I knew it was purely informational and got the most out of it. I learned about the campus life, the available resources and the city of Philadelphia. It worked out extremely well for me because my interviewer was Korean and so I was able to get a glimpse of the college experience from someone with similar backgrounds and viewpoints as me. She also got a 1480 on her SATs (though our averages were incomparable). The two things I was able to do was demonstrate my strongest extra-curricular area of interest (Christianity) but also separate myself from basically every other candidate out there with my unique career goal (screenwriting). It was very fun and I learned alot and my ladder may be restructured.

Remember the days when you were little and you looked outside the window to see the whitest snow falling from the sky? It seemed back then that there wasn't enough of these snowy days and you always dreamt for more. Now there's too much snow and you wish it would clean itself up. All that time spent on shoveling, it could've been spent on resting from a long and stressful day. Maybe Michigan isn't well-suited for me... Oh well I just gotta hope some other schools accept me. Anyways my quest for perfection ended today. Now all I gotta do is wait a couple of weeks to get my score and find out if I got that ever elusive 1600. I didn't get every question right which I was hoping to do but with a generous curve I believe I have a chance. I think I got around 2-5 wrong (I'm guessing probably 3 wrong) and for math I think 0-1 wrong. Or I could be horribly mistaken and end up with a 1340. Or I could have guessed the wrong section to be experimental and get a 800 verbal and 450 math. Who knows. Only time will tell.
